This course will provide an understanding of drugs, drug classification, how drugs interact with the body, and the effects of drug abuse on the abuser and fetus.

  • Identify history of psychoactive drug use
  • Identify and explain how the body functions on a cellular level and intra-cellular
    level
  • Identify and explain the nervous system and endocrine system in relation to drug
    use
  • Identify and describe how drugs enter the body
  • Identify and describe how drugs are distributed through the body
  • Identify and describe how drugs are metabolized and excreted
  • Identify and describe the major drug classifications
  • Identify and describe the physiological and psychological effects of drugs
  • Describe the effects of drugs on the fetus
